Well it is about to happen. CINMGA is ready to get back to the essential business of winning golf tournaments and will kick off the official season next Saturday at Blue Ash with the FU open. Blue Ash is our traditional FU open course so this year we will be starting with a major tournament because of the Covid adjusted season.
However the medios could not wait that long so last week, 18 of our great Medio’s did get together for a little warm-up and a chance to reconnect with buddies. It confirmed what a great group of guys we have and that Grimes is still our MAOT (most annoying out there). We tore up the Walden Ponds golf course with some pretty impressive mediocre golf. While it was not an official event, the results can tell us who to watch as the season starts.
While we did practice good social distancing, we did not spread out very much with our golf scores. Dennis H. and Brendan Griffith are in mid-season, kinda alright, form and walked away with a championship at 91(No chance for a playoff under these conditions). Four regulars, Chris Hill, Jeff Gilbert, Dave Gibson, and the Billdozer, were hot on their heels, shooting 92s. Eric Hostetler stood alone in seventh with a 93 closely followed by Scott Feldman and Skip Koesterman with 94s. His 94 qualified Scott to take home some hardware, the most mediocre award, for a finish right in the middle of the pack in his first ever MGA tournament. Another newbie, Jason Corbett, rounded out the top 10 with a 96 but also The ties continued to come as Jared and Tim Grimes settled in at 99 for a tie in Eleventh. Bob Evans just missed double figures settling at 100 and taking 13th Pl. Chris Blanton was close behind at 101 with Pepe Flores right behind him at 102. Another tie of two old-timers as Dan Harold and Mike Boyer came in at 104. Another newbie Duane Sharpe left sporting the red key at 108 which he secured using 25 strokes to finish the last three holes!!
The games were a little rusty the excitement was thick and that bodes well for some great tournament golf and camaraderie as the 11th season of sent MGA gets underway!!!
