This Sporte is a Bastard

With the winter finally behind us it was time to brush off the sticks and get out for what really matters in life…the MGA.  With 15 MGA’ers out (one who will not be named was a no show after texting another MGA’er at 5am asking for a wakeup call, hey we like to party) we took to George Dunne National.  The gem of the Forest Preserve courses was in great shape after some early spring showers and good sun, and the weather was perfect for mid-April.  So in other words, perfect for some mediocre golf.

This being the first foray of managing an MGA under new leadership after the great and once-powerful Andy Westby, things started off well with the folks at George Dunne being nothing but accommodating to the MGA.

Dylan Psotka was out seeking back to back trucker caps, however on this day, he would not be walking away with another.  Chris Sporte started the front slow, but then through sheer grit and mediocre play from others on the back was able to chip away with a finishing 87 gross (88 net) to secure his first career MGA victory.   Two notable events, the former prez peer pressuring Leo Cole into a true meltdown of a 14 stroke differential and a guest of the MGA imbibing a little too much resulting in a putter throw worthy of Happy Gilmore into the lake on 16 (a generous gift to our gracious hosts at George Dunne).

All in all, it was a great event and we are already looking forward the FORE Championship in May (arguably the classiest of all the trophies).

Till Next Time, Stay Mediocre Everyone…
