Mano a mano in Toledo

Forget the world championship, the MGA Midwest Regional Championship is where the real action is at!!!  This weekend five of the top ten on the MGA Global Money list will be battling it out in Toledo for bragging rights to be the best player in the MGA.    Number one in the world, Tim Grimes will take on number two in the world, John Yarder and go head to head to decide who is really top dog.    Grimes, with three wins this year and a real bad attitude (see his socks below) has become the most hated man in Cincy (it is almost impossible to find people to play a full 18 holes with him!).   ‘Money Man’ Yarder has also taken home three wins this year in Toledo and will be looking to help bring glory to a town which so far only has cross dressing Jamie Farr and the Mud Hens to talk about!

Forty eight Medios, representing 8 chapters from Northwest Indiana to Pittsburgh, will take on the Bedford Hills golf course just north of Toledo. It will be a standard MGA stroke play format with seven of the chapters competing for the coveted Chapters Cup based on the combined score of their top three players.  This is the third annual Midwest Regional event which has been dominated by Cincinnati so far.  Dan ‘Salsa’ Harold took the championship the first year with Cincinnati taking the Chapter Cup team competition.   Last year the Billdozer went home in the traditional plaid jacket which is awarded to the winner and Cincinnati gapped the rest of the field by over 20 strokes in the Chapters Cup. This year competition looks to be tougher but Cincy is not worried and brings 7 tough Medios including two returning champs!!.

Post tournament celebrations will take place in downtown Toledo where previous years have generated some impressive bar bills and great stories as guys made new friends from other chapters.    We expect no less this year!
