Lower Shore MGA Braves Elements for Preseason Event

BERLIN, MD---Mother Nature was not going to keep the Lower Shore Chapter of the Mediocre Golf Association from teeing it up in its Preseason Event, held Sunday, March 24 at Ocean Resorts Golf Club.

Despite the heavy rain that fell the day before and the cold temperatures and gusting wind of Sunday, seven players still took to the course.

Though no big checks or trophies were on the line, newcomer Dave Aughenbaugh earned the preseason win with a net 99 in the tricky conditions to claim a prize from William Murray Golf. It was a runaway win with Bob Lowe and Conrad Link, also first-time MGA members, tying for second with matching scores of 105.

Aughenbaugh took home the money hole win, sending one to 20 feet on the 165-yard eighth hole, and paying off the shot by making the birdie putt.

Tim Brennan, Lower Shore Chapter co-leader, was closest to the pin on the 160-yard 12th hole to claim a prize from Trailer Park Golf Club.

Long drive went to Bob Lowe, who put his shot on 17 right down the middle.

With the preseason behind the chapter, it now looks ahead to the start of the regular season, less than two weeks out at Ocean Pines Golf Club, where the Rebel Beach Am-Am will be contested. The inaugural official event is set for Saturday, April 6.
