Kiehle Wins 6th

Once again Chapter Leader Noah Kiehle ordered perfect weather for a tournament for the 2023 MGA Championship at Rattlewood Golf Course. Last month's Red Key winner Tyler Bryant sang his rendition of the National Anthem with our first flyover of the season. 20 Medios showed up for their chance at the second major of the season.

After a rocky start with a topped tee shot that bound forward about 30 feet, our Chapter Leader Noah Kiehle put it behind him and managed to focus his way through the front 9 with an impressive 37. The day would be his as he maintained his composure enough to outlast the field on his way to an 82 net 85 for the win claiming his 6th MGA Title for his career. The rest of the Medios managed to put up some good scores as the top eight finishers were all within 10 strokes of the leader. After a calculation error, Walt was left 1 shot off the lead for a solo second place and not going to a putt off for a potential victory. It wasn't all disappointment for Walt Baby Luv as he was able to go longer than anyone else in the field to take the Long Drive Award.

Matt Cougle was the first to take a swing at the Closest to the Pin Challenge and put a shot close enough to intimidate everyone else as his name would be the only one written down on the card that day. Jimmy Wyatt would take the money from the Money Hole as his very close tee shot on the par 3 16th would be close enough.

Stacy Malloy would finish in the middle of the pack and take home the Mediocre Award.

The race for the Red Key was the most heated contest of the day as the anticipation grew to see who would be performing next month's National Anthem for our most patriotic tournament of the year, the Freedom and Unity Open. When the dust settled and the yelling and complaining about pace of play and people hitting into each other stopped, the last group would come in with 2 contenders. Fortunately for Gabe it was Dennis Bryant who came in with the highest score beating Gabe by 1 stroke for his first Red Key Award.

Special shout out to Doug Ogburn of the Kent Island Chapter for joining us to fill the final spot. He said he had a great time and commented on how our chapter "laughs a lot!!" This reporter can only assume that means we are the "FUN" chapter here in the state of Maryland!

I cannot wait to bring the "FUN" back for next month's F.U. Open up north at Greystone Golf Course where the Red, White and Blue colors will be flying high as defending champion Garrett Love looks to defend his title in our 3rd Major of the year. Get out there and find your most patriotic attire you can and let's show the people of Greystone how much Freedom and Unity we have.
