Eric Frid takes home his first ever victory at the FU Open

Eric Frid prevails in least watched putt-off ever to take home his first ever tournament win at the 2019 Orange County F.U. Open earning $1.35. Oh, and he also won long drive beating out only two other medios who managed to hit the fairway.

Trying to make it two tournament wins in a row, Kenny Carlson tied Eric Frid with a 93, but somehow blew the putt-off that no one watched because everyone was at the bar. He finished 2nd and takes home .90 cents and continues to climb the money list. Greg Valenzuela, who still can’t get a win after 4 last year, also shot a 93, but his 1 penalty stroke pushed him back into a 3-way tie for 3rd place with Michael DeSio and Robert “Chuck” Salazar earning .68 cents. Michael DeSio would have won again if it weren’t for his 4 penalty strokes.

The only other player to shoot under 100, James White comes in at 6th place with a 98 earning .53 cents. Another 3-way tie at 7th place was Will Orr, Fred Valenzuela and Jonathan Reatiga all shooting an even 100 and earning .38 cents. However, Fred was even on the front and back with 50/50 which also earned him the Most Mediocre award. Rounding out the top 10 with a 101 was Jason Weamer earning .23 cents.

Winning the Gross award once again was Phil Valenzuela shooting a 74. Will anyone else ever win this award?

Taking home the Closest To Pin award was Greg Valenzuela Sr., who probably hit his driver. Unfortunately, the rest of his round didn’t go as planned as he narrowly beat out Rik Patel to “win” the Red Key shooting a 126. You think his scores would get better when he’s hitting from the red tees every tournament.

Finally, two players gave valiant efforts for the Meltdown award. Michael DeSio (+10) and Will Orr (+12) both came up just short behind James Ryhal who was a whopping +16 on the back nine. However, he was too good to show up to the award ceremony so Will Orr graciously took the hardware off his hands.

The next tournament is the Bratish Open at Monarch Beach Golf Resort where medios will be competing for the coveted Claret Juggs and trying to avoid sun burns at the beach.
