Fort Myers

This is it. After a long offseason, the Fort Myers MGA is teeing off another season of awful golf with the Rebel Beach Am-Am on March 25. The event will be hosted at Copperhead Golf Club in Lehigh Acres. I believe we all know it well. It should be a relatively easy course to open with to shake off the rust, and they offer some of the better prices in the area this time of year. The first group's tee time is at 12:04 PM. PLEASE show up a half hour before that (11:34 AM). Get a few range balls, shake off that rust, and be ready to go. The awards celebration will be at Stevie Tomato's on Daniels near I-75 (9510 Marketplace Rd, Fort Myers, FL 33912), immediately after the round. Try to make it a point to go to this. Share a beverage with your fellow medios, and tell your tales of futility on the course. At each event, we will be running a 50/50 contest to defray the cost of the trophies and other goodies provided by the MGA. You will predict who takes each category (Winner, Gross Award, Mediocre Award, Longest Drive, Closest to the Pin, Key to the Red Tee, etc.), and whoever gets the most answers correct will win half the pot. The other half will go to the chapter. Try to have your playing partner lined up by the week before the event. Use the Facebook group to solicit partners. I will make pairs from the remaining unpaired on the day of the event. About the Rebel Beach Am-Am The Am-Am is a two-man team event. The team with the lowest total score will win the two-headed trophies, featuring one head focusing on a putt, while the other chugs a beer. The money prizes will still be awarded based on individual scoring in the tournament, so the overall winner will receive the big check. The last thing any medio wants to do is ruin his friend’s entire season, and perhaps his chance at the World Title, with his terrible play.
